Wood Tie Grading
Do you feel comfortable that all of your tie inspectors are grading
ties the same way? Use Aurora to do spot checks for quality control.
Aurora uses a proprietary, sophisticated grading method that is uniformly
applied to each and every tie. Several factors are considered when assigning
a grade value to a tie. Aurora analyzes the surface of wood ties and
identifies the size, length, location of cracks. The “roughness” of
the surface is evaluated. Vertical plate cut is measured. Signs of rot
are assessed. All of these factors influence the assignment of a tie
grade. Up to four tie grades can be used.
Aurora offers a consistent and fast inspection tool that will complement
your traditional walking tie inspectors. Use Aurora to create the highest
level view to know where to most effectively deploy your walking tie
inspectors or use Aurora to grade areas that your walking inspectors
won’t get to this year.
